KokopeliSouthwest Expedition 2001

Monday, September 3

It was chilly in the canyon that night with the temperature dropping to the mid 40s. We broke camp in the morning and left Bandelier headed for Aztec, New Mexico to visit the Aztec Ruins built around A.D. 1111 to 1121. The Great Kiva was built by the Chacoans and the later remodeled by people kin to the Mesa Verdeans in the A.D. 1200s. After finishing our tour of the ruins we headed on to Mesa Verde in Colorado where we were to camp at the Morefield Campground for the next three nights.
