Bush was vice-president under Ronald Reagan from 1980 to 1988. He won the 1988 election over Michael S. Dukakis by a popular vote of 47,917,341 to 41,013,030 and an electoral vote of 426 to 112. J. Danforth Quayle was his vice-president. He lost the 1992 election to Bill Clinton. Bush had served as US Representative to the United Nations under Richard Nixon and became director of the Central Intelligence Agency in 1976. |
