This is Tyuonyi Pueblo (pronounced chew-OHN-yee) in the valley below Frijoles Canyon. The people who lived here in the late A.D. 1100s were probably attracted to the permanent stream, El Rito de los Frijoles. The Ancestral Puebloans (formerly called Anasazi) lived here for about 400 years.
